Attention office to victims of sexual abuse by clerics is opened in Toluca

The Bishop of Toluca, Francisco Javier Chavolla Ramos, officially instituted the Diocesan Commission for the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Adults (CODIPROMAV), whose main purpose is to provide support to victims who have suffered sexual abuse by priests (consecrated or pastoral agents).
The news was announced through a statement of the Bishopric of Toluca, within the framework, it was reported, the "Chrism Mass" of Holy Week, in which the paintings are blessed and the holy chrism is consecrated, which are used for the sacraments and furthermore, priests renew their commitment to obedience to the bishop and service to the Church.
The diocesan dependency, reported that this Commission is composed by specialists in Civil and Canon Law, Psychology, Medicine, Family Sciences, Human Development, Spirituality and Communication; and it is placed at the service of all the devoted, especially those who were victims of sexual abuse by a cleric, consecrated person or pastoral agent.
The report indicates that: CODIPROMAV's field of action will be direct and immediate attention to the victims, following the respective protocol for these cases.
Also specifies that said protocol is to bring legal, canonical and civil process indicated, but also to promote a culture of prevention and transparency in these situations. The Commission will seek if it’s needed, communication and collaboration with the civil authorities.
"With the creation of this Commission, our bishop responds to the indications of Pope Francis, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the Conference of the Mexican Episcopate, which ask that each Diocese have the appropriate instruments and knowledge to deal pastorally abuses to minors and vulnerable people, "said the statement.
He also makes the following call: "Following the impulse of the Holy Spirit, we invite the whole community, in general, to commit and make aware of the importance of implementing prevention and training activities on this subject, in all environments of daily coexistence. We will be waiting to inform you of the CODIPROMAV office location, as well as the telephone number to the public.
