Deputies propose demolishing or reusing Valle Ceylán hospital

July 15th, 2019

In order to determinate if the Valle Ceylán hospital from Tlanepantla is in good condition for being reused or demolished, deputy Max Correa Hernández, President of the Civil Protection Commission of the Mexican Congress, made a call to the Government of the State of Mexico to make a new verdict on the state that keeps the structure of the property.

The legislator argued that almost two years after the closed of the hospital for the alleged damage caused by the earthquakes of September 2017 to the building, there is no type of action on the part of the authorities to indicate their qualification or the construction of a new one .

"There is the uncertainty that the structure of the hospital has really been damaged: in the first instance, the former mayor of Tlalnepantla said there was no structural damage, then he said it was ...". In that sense, the deputy of Morena warned that apparently this inaction aims to generate an additional offer of patients to the Zumpango hospital, which is granted by the state government in a public private partnership.

In the warrant promoted by Faustino de la Cruz Pérez and Mario Gabriel Gutiérrez Cureño is included the request for a new ruling from Civil Protection to Valle Ceylán General Hospital. They are also requiring to the Secretariats of Health and Finance to conclude the work of the General Hospital Zona Oriente in Tlalnepantla, and to restore the service of Dr. Jorge Jiménez Cantú Health Center.

The point of agreement, which was approved on June 28 by the Permanent Commission of the Chamber of State Deputies, indicates that the closure of Valle Ceylán Hospital generates a social health problem due to the lack of services, and causes an economic deterioration the users that now must resort to particular hospitals.
