How serious is the corruption on Edomex?






The cost of corruption, in State of Mexico, in numbers was two billion 700 million of pesos in 2017. According to the results of the National Survey on Quality and Government Impact (by its acronym in Spanish, ENCIG 2017) of the INEGI on which the state was included among the higher rates on corruption victims on every 100 thousand inhabitants.

The ENCIG 2017 is the most recent edition made by the INEGI to measure the impact that corruption has on the country.

On this way, the Estado de Mexico stands out. Its rate of prevalence on corruption acts is higher than the national average. According to the results which are individualized by state, on the Estado de Mexico, the rate is 15 thousand 901 corruption acts by every 100 thousand habitants. While the national average is 14 thousand 635. Edomex is “winning”, by far.

The ENCIG 2017 also placed the police corporations and the public prosecutors, most of the dependents of the Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México (FGJEM), as the two public areas, on which the inhabitants receive corruption more frequently.

The third governmental on which a high rate of corruption, even nationally, is the municipal paperwork. While the contact with the police or police corporations are the first to be in touch and the first environments as well with most acts of corruption overall country.

About the rate of victims of corruption the INEGI reports an increase of 24.5 points on this index for the Estado de Mexico. Going further than 12 thousand 278 corruption victims on every 100 thousand inhabitants in 2015 to 15 thousand 901 victims in 2017.

This index surpasses Mexico City’s where the rate of corruption victims reported an increase of 24.3% during the same period.

In contrast and surprisingly on the centre region of the country a low index of corruption is reported in Puebla and Queretaro. In Puebla, the index of corruption on every 100 thousand habitants dropped into 21.9% and in Queretaro in 9.5%.

So, on this way, the states with the highest rates of corruption are Ciudad de México, Quintana Roo, Morelos, San Luis Potosí and Chiapas(with the highest number of victims on every 100 thousand inhabitants). However, the ones, which reported an increase in this phenomenon in 2017, were Chiapas, Aguascalientes, Guerrero, Quintana Roo, Campeche and Estado de Mexico.

It should be pointed out that the index of the prevalence of corruption in Mexico has increased every two years instead of decrease. Rising from 12 thousand 590 to 14 thousand 665 victims of corruption on every 100 thousand inhabitants from 2015 to 2017.

On Estado de Mexico the prevalence rate on corruption acts is higher than the national average. According to the results, individualized by state, is located on 15 thousand 901 corruption acts on 100 thousand habitants. While the national index is 14 thousand 635.
