The Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico (IEEM), presented at the 41st edition of the International Book Fair at the Mining Palace two outstanding works such as: “The study of the quality of citizenship in the State of Mexico” and, “Violence and government in democratic Mexico. Subnational experiences 2007-2018 ”.

The Pavilion of the Editorial Fund Estado de México was the headquarters where the Electoral Councilors Daniella Durán Ceja and Sandra López Bringas commented on the “Study on the quality of citizenship in the State of Mexico” under the moderation of the Electoral Councilor Saúl Mandujano Rubio.

So that to analyze the issue, the Minister Daniella Durán Ceja, said that it is an investigation carried out in conjunction with the College of Mexico that shows qualitative and quantitative data, the result of a survey prepared to 1,500 participants in the Mexican entity, whose content reflects what the citizens want.

Meanwhile, Minister Sandra López Bringas agreed that the study is important because it measures citizen participation, its relationship with institutions and where democracy is going, while, Saul Mandujano Council, said that the database of the work It can be consulted and downloaded for free at www.ieem.org.mx.

Subsequently, the book was presented: “Violence and government in democratic Mexico. Subnational experiences 2007-2018 ”, where the IEEM President Counselor, Pedro Zamudio Godínez commented that the work invites reading and reflection on violence in its different manifestations, divided into four fundamental themes such as police performance and trust of citizenship; self-defense and community police in Michoacán, the political repression at the subnational level in Mexico; and, the violence experienced by political actors in electoral processes: an exploratory approach.

In turn, the Electoral Councilor, Miguel Ángel García Hernández, stressed that the book shows a history of violence, based on the fact that repression is not something that just arises, but comes from years ago, hence the importance of giving To know this type of research to society.

Contributing to the comments Víctor Manuel Figueras Zanabria and Orlando Espinosa Santiago, both coordinators of the book, explained that it is a detailed investigation exposed in four chapters, which explain the origin of the distrust of citizenship in the local police itself, passing through the creation of self-defense groups, a government that represses certain behaviors and candidates for popular election positions that were threatened.

In conclusion, the Electoral Councilor, María Guadalupe González Jordan, said that given the panorama of violence that arises, the culture of the complaint must be promoted and people should be made more aware of this problem.

It should be noted that both presentations, which were attended by holders of the Directorates and Units attached to the Institute, as well as university students, representatives of the academy and citizens in general, can be viewed through YouTube with the official IEEM user.
