The government of the Mexican capital began its annual reforestation campaign in green areas surrounding Toluca, as well as parks and gardens. The goal of planting is 1.5 million copies this year, authorities said.

According to the information provided by the local authorities, from May 31 to September 30, the main reforestation points will be concentrated in: Sierra Morelos State Park, Cerro del Perico, Alameda Norte Park, the vicinity of the José Antonio Alzate Dam and of the Tejalpa and Verdiguel rivers, the San Gerónimo and Ojo de Agua borders, the Nevado de Toluca. Also sidewalks, ridges, gardens and the Cerro del Calvario.

Additionally, a Milpas Intercalary program with Fruit Trees will be carried out. Meanwhile, in the Alameda 2000, 20 thousand trees of the species ash, oak and cedar were planted.

As part of the start of the annual reforestation campaign, the local authorities and the State Management of CONAFOR in the State of Mexico, signed an agreement for the donation of a forest plant to the capital and 200,000 copies for the Santiago Tlacotepec Communal Property. .

The start of the campaign took place in the Sierra Morelos park, with the assistance of various local authorities and dozens of volunteers who participated in various tasks, such as moving the plant, digging holes for planting and planting small trees.

It should be noted that the present municipal administration has set the goal of planting five million trees throughout the triennium.
