October 20, 2017

As a result of the harsh rain and hail registered last Thursday afternoon on October 19th, the local government assisted the falling of 179 trees, some billboards, 8 walls and roofing collapsed, as well as 6 damaged vehicles, facts that didn’t injure any people though.

According to the technical measurement, the pluvial precipitation reached 19 millimeters with winds that reached the 56 km/h, which provoke the fallen of trees in zones like Santiago Miltepec, La Teresona and mainly neighborhoods like Sector Popular and Parques Nacionales, situations that were cared immediately by personnel of the Civil Protection department, Toluca’s Fire Department, Public Services, Citizen Security department, the Army and the State Police, who took away trunks, branches and made cleaning over the area.

Also, the raining caused the ripping off of several roofs made of metal sheets and the fallen of trees affected six vehicles that were around; there was reported too, the collapse of 8 walls that didn’t affect any of the houses next to them and they were taken away with machinery and support of personnel from the Public Services department. Plus, some posts of the telephone service fell down as well and caused interruptions in the service as well as problems with electricity supply, so the Department of Citizen Security reinforced the patrols on the areas.

Personnel of Toluca’s Water and Sanitation Department (OAyST in Spanish) checked several ducts which were not enough to conduct pluvial water due to the huge amounts of trash and which must be taken out with machinery, since the water overflowed in some locations such as San Cristobal Huichochitlán; Benito Juarez street in San Andrés Cuexcontitlán; Amates and Arboledas streets at Los Sauces and the entrance to El Tejocote.

The OAyST supervises permanently the existing channels in the municipality such as El Arenal, Agua Bendita, Las Jaras, Arroyo Cano and the Verdiguel and Tejalpa rivers. The municipality was supported by the Mexican Army and State Police.

The departments of the municipality are aware in case of any complain or report from the citizens as result of the atypical rain of last Thursday and hand the following phone numbers to the population’s service: 217 88 58 and 217 83 23, as well as 911.
