As a preventive measure to avoid flooding, the Ecatepec government implemented works to remove garbage and clean the Cartagena Canal, where they collected more than 500 tons of garbage and 15 more tons of generated from pruning.

Similar work had previously been carried out in the Las Ventilas area of the Tierra Blanca neighborhood and in the San Carlos community.

Personnel from the Public Services Directorate carried out pruning work on almost two kilometers of the canal's banks, garbage collection inside the body of water, flattening and maintenance of lights on Canal de Cartagena avenue.

The municipal president Fernando Vilchis Contreras instructed said department, in charge of these services, to remove the domestic garbage that was inside the body of water, since it could cause blockages and eventual flooding or overflows.

"We are in a campaign to remove garbage from the main channels, ravines and other drains of Ecatepec, because the rainy season is approaching and these preventive actions will help us avoid floods and that the communication routes collapse in our municipality", He said.
