The various UN representations in Mexico, issued a strong condemnation, for the femicide of Ingrid Escamilla and other women and girls, while calling on the media throughout the country, as well as the authorities responsible for to investigate crimes against women, to adopt protocols with a human rights and gender perspective, both for the investigation and for the journalistic treatment of these cases.

In a joint statement, the various instances that are part of the UN jointly signed to condemn femicide in Mexico and demand appropriate treatment of cases, including the media, in order to avoid revictimization.

The pronouncement is signed by the United Nations for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UN-DH), the United Nations Population Fund United (UNFPA), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) ), as well as the Agencies that participate in the Spotlight Initiative to prevent and eliminate femicide.
