IEEM DIFFUSES INFORMATION WITH CITIZEN AND INCLUDING LANGUAGE

The Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico (IEEM) incorporates in its official communications a citizen and inclusive language to eliminate all forms of discrimination, which follows the “Guidelines for the use of citizen and inclusive language” approved by the General advice.
The objective is to disseminate and promote through tools such as the Guide for the application of the guidelines for the use of citizen and inclusive language, together with a quick reference guide, the use of appropriate vocabulary to name and make visible people and groups historically discriminated against
Likewise, with the dissemination of calls, events, videos, institutional programs, and infographics, the aim is to promote citizen participation inside and outside the electoral process, which are announced both on the website www.ieem.org.mx as well as in its Twitter and Instagram social networks @IEEM_MX, and Facebook and YouTube identify with the official IEEM user.
In addition, each of the areas assigned to the Institute applies citizen language, in the same way, to simplify and make its reading and understanding simple, clear and accessible, avoiding any type of discrimination, as can be seen in the General Council agreements themselves, available on the institutional website.
So that with the application of the guidelines, stereotypes are avoided and the commitment to bring the institutional task to the citizens directly and easily is reaffirmed, adopting positive measures that facilitate the inclusion of people in true conditions of equality.
At the same time, it also seeks to eliminate the factors that foster and perpetuate discrimination, exclusion, and violence, which means that the electoral body adheres to national and international human rights instruments.
It is also promoted that public servants when using language, use universal generic terms and, if they do not exist, seek neutrality; avoid the exclusive use of masculine for words that also have their corresponding feminine; refrain from the use of pejorative.
Likewise, a Program of Activities is promoted with the objective of developing institutional capacities for the implementation of the guidelines that include training courses and workshops, in order to avoid the use, reproduction, and dissemination of expressions that can damage human dignity, promoting relationships of respect.
Meanwhile, the Gender and Eradication of Violence Unit reports bi-monthly to the General Council of the IEEM, through the Presidency, on the development and compliance, of the aforementioned guidelines, in the activities carried out in the Institute.
