In a space where young people between 15 and 29 years of age spoke in public with clarity, precision and eloquence about democratic values, the final of the First Electoral Oratory Contest 2019, organized by the State Electoral Institute of Mexico (IEEM) and in which 7 young people -3 women and 4 men finally won.

The Electoral Counselor and President of the Commission for the Promotion and Dissemination of Democratic and Political Culture, María Guadalupe González Jordan, indicated that the event was held in order to encourage the participation and interest of Mexican youth in the practice of democratic values.

He added that the youth showed great interest in the contest, as there were 358 women and 342 men, belonging to 102 municipalities of the entity.

During the final stage, 12 contestants had 7 minutes to present their speech on any of the following topics: youth participation in what strengthens democracy; the role of democratic values ​​in society; importance of political parties, independent candidates, electoral institutions and citizenship in elections; Civic Education as a generator of political participation and the inclusion of minorities and vulnerable groups in democracy.

In the “A” category, which included young people aged 15 to 20, Alexia Reza Reyes won first place; the second Yoltic Hernández Guerra and the third Andrea Olivia Castillo Garduño. Regarding the “B” category, in which young people between 21 and 29 years old participated, the first place prize was received by Karla Elizabeth Jiménez Lujano; the second, César Mauricio Hinojosa Méndez and the third, where there was a tie, Josué Covarrubias González and Omar Timoty Sánchez Guzmán.
