The Univamex and merchants of the Central Supply also joined the initiative promoted by the municipal government. With the implementation of the municipal program "Adopt a Space", more than 50 ridges, schools and public spaces of Ecatepec will be assigned to businessmen of the municipality, who will invest in their repair and maintenance for the urban improvement of the town. The mayor of Ecatepec, Fernando Vilchis Contreras, signed a collaboration agreement with representatives of the Las Américas Regional Center, which "adopted" 20,000 square meters of green areas on Paseo de Las Américas Avenue, where they planted 300 trees.

In addition, this commercial group donated another 300 trees of species such as palms and ash trees to forestall ridges and main avenues of the municipality.

Vilchis Contreras explained that these collaborations go beyond the embellishment of places, since it is also about generating security and mobility for the inhabitants, along with one of the strongest sectors of Ecatepec.

"There are entrepreneurs with a high sense of social commitment and that makes a difference. We are working hand in hand, we want to build a livable municipality, with a future for all our citizens, to encourage more dynamism by caring and providing the spaces we want” said the mayor.

Ignacio Moreno López, manager of the Las Americas Regional Center, said that generating this type of action is very important for the commercial center, the settlers of the Las Americas subdivision and for the municipal government, since this will provide a better environment to raise the quality of life in this area.

"Aware of our responsibility and co-responsibility in contributing to the environment of the Las Americas Regional Center, together with the government of Ecatepec, we will support maintaining 20 thousand square meters and will contribute to donate 600 specimens of various species," he said.

Subsequently, Moreno López and Vilchis Contreras, along with Esmeralda Vallejo Martínez, president of the system of Integral Development of the Family (DIF) Ecatepec, planted the first laurels in the fractionation.

During the event, the rector of the Valle de México University Educational Cultural Group (Univamex) joined the initiative by committing to the rehabilitation of the Los Aztecas Boulevard, while the merchants of the Central de Abastos assured that they would adopt the area next to it to give the right infrastructure and improve the image.

Fernando Vilchis said that as part of the growth of the next phase of the Las Americas shopping center, he would work together with businesspersons, so that it would generate more than 1,800 jobs. Through the "Adopt a Space" program, it is expected that during this triennium more than a thousand companies will take charge of public spaces.
