Estado de Mexico’s government announced that this May 16 classes will be suspended on private and public schools on 34 towns from the Valle de México and Toluca due to the high pollution rates that exist on all the region.
Through an announcement, the state government confirmed that this step will be applicable in private and public schools from the levels of basic education and high school.
On the Valle de Toluca, there will be no classes on the schools from Almoloya de Juárez, Calimaya, Chapultepec, Lerma, Metepec, Mexicaltzingo, Ocoyoacac, Otzolotepec, Rayón, San Antonio la Isla, San Mateo Atenco, Temoaya, Tenango del Valle, Toluca, Xonacatlán and Zinacantepec.
As well on the Valle de México there are 18 towns which suspend any school activities on Atizapán de Zaragoza, Coacalco, Cuautitlán, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Chalco, Chimalhuacán, Chicoloapan, Ecatepec, Huixquilucan, Ixtapaluca, La Paz, Naucalpan, Nezahualcóyotl, Nicolás Romero, Tecámac, Tlalnepantla de Baz, Tultitlán and Valle de Chalco.
Estado de Mexico’s administration said that the presence of fires on the state during the weekend and whis Monday, affected the quality of the air. Reason why the education authority urge to the students, parents, and teachers to pay attention to the orders and preventive steps made by authorities.
Also, it was asked to the students and the tutors to keep yourselves informed through the official web pages of the Comisión Nacional Forestal, la Comisión Ambiental de la Megalópolis and the one of the Gobierno del Estado de México. And to abstain to do any activities outdoors.
