Have the drop in production really stopped as Romero Oropeza claimed?

Have the drop in production really stopped as Romero Oropeza claimed?

CALIFICACIÓN: UNVERIFIABLE

romero1romero2
Last March 18 with cause of the 81 anniversary of the oil expropriation, on the facilities of the refinery Miguel Hidalgo in Tula, the managerial of Pemex, Octavio Romero Oropeza, claimed that the company had stopped the drop in oil production. Making an argument out of the rising of the production of oil from February to March.

He assured that according to the projection of our Pemex’s technicians the drop has been stopped. Moreover, from now on, we can hope a rising tendency.

Analysis

Due to the official numbers of Pemex from February were released a couple of days ago in the web page of Pemex, and the ones of March are not published yet, February’s will be the ones to be taken into consideration.

According to their oil statistics, Pemex made one million 701 thousand daily oil barrels. In January this year, it had been produced one million 623 thousand daily oil barrels. Which is an increase of 4.8%

Conclusions

Is wrong and dishonest, with the given information, to think that in just one month of rising, a tendency can be generalized, especially when March’s production hasn’t been published yet, (the month that actually hasn’t finished). And that in the last six-year term there was a rise in the production of oil barrels daily. And in none of the past cases, the downward tendency has stopped on the following months.

The statistics allow us to conclude that is too soon to assure with certainty, that a month with an exception, like February, would be a tendency itself. And even less when it has been months with even more rising, than that.

Assessment

Therefore, and due to the intention to signalize a discourse with a clear objective, despite the historical evidence included on Pemex’s statistics, the statement they made that the drop in production is impossible to verify until they release the numbers of March of the oil production. In consequence, this Fact Checking would be updated in April.
