Lawmakers approved abolish decrees that allowed them to be provided with bodyguards, drivers and secretaries freely.

Domestic commissions of Local Congress in the State of Mexico approved unanimously the abolishment of decrees that allowed the allocation of cash paid pensions to former governors at the end of his term.

Such pension consisted of offering body-guards, secretaries and drivers paid by the State perpetually.

The initiative was supported by the deputy Azucena Cisneros Coss in November. It was approved on fast-track and will be sent to plenary next week when special sessions will be held.

Nowadays, the 7 former governors have a total of 200 public servers designated to them, particularly security staff to give security to them and their families, say the lawmakers.

The former governors are: Alfredo Baranda, Eruviel Ávila Villegas, Emilio Chauffet, César Camacho Quiroz, Enrique Peña Nieto, Arturo Montiel Rojas and Ignacio Pichardo Pagaza.
