As a result of the activation by federal authorities of Phase 3 of the coronavirus epidemic, the Ecatepec government reported that prevention measures will be tightened to contain contagions on the margin since it is expected that at this stage of the health emergency the highest number of infections among the population.
The mayor Fernando Vilchis Contreras assured that they will thoroughly review establishments, squares, shopping centers and other spaces considered non-essential, to maintain the guidelines for social distancing and sanitation and hygiene measures, among which are hand washing and the use of face masks, among other.
Likewise, it announced that this week a sanitation program will be launched for public transport units of the 80 routes that provide the service in the municipality.
In street markets, the presence of children, pregnant women, and older adults will not be allowed, in addition to the fact that only one person per family may go shopping for food and cleaning products exclusively.
The mayor issued instructions to the corresponding areas to suspend all established or informal economic units that do not respect the sanitary measures announced by the federal government.
In a meeting with state authorities, Vilchis Contreras announced that they would implement an awareness campaign to publicize the emergency situation that exists in the locality and in the world so that all mechanisms will be used and actions will be tightened to punish those who do not abide by the indications regarding health.
In addition, he said that there will be institutional dissemination in all available channels, to inform citizens about the actions and data that are updated day by day regarding the population suffering from the Covid-19 disease.
"It is important at this time, that the scope of this deadly disease be made known and we must understand that in the event that thousands of people become infected, only two hospitals will be able to attend to this situation, the General Hospital of the Americas and José María Rodríguez ”, he expressed.
