What do we call it: AMLO inconsistencies; Amlo styles or hipocrisy of AMLO?
One month and a half ago at an event held at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMex) I asked Horacio Duarte about the Youth Building the Future program, with the intention of asking the awkward questions at the end. And yes, after the simple questions, i asked him about the existence of a possible impunity pact between AMLO and the PRI elite political class. He could not hide any gesture of annoyance and asked me who said that, i told him that some analysts, how which analysts?, like Julio Astillero, I replied -well, it´s the name i remembered at that moment -and then the answer was something like many of those analysts didn´t even read and in a few words they were ignorant.
Today less than two months after that interview, the words are not enough and the evidence is seen in reality. There may or may not be a written pact off impunity between AMLO and the old political class of the PRI, commanded by Enrique Peña Nieto, but what if there are too many elements of agreements, that of course shape a scenario of perpetuation of impunity. The recent visits of president Andrés Manuel López Obrador to the Estado de México and his efforts to open channels of legitimacy to a governor that he deligitimate when he came to the power and by the way that he did so, is absurd.
The grievances are many. Evidence of criminal looting of the public treasury, of lack of justice, corrupted to the bottom; of expense and waste, of diversion of resources as a system of government in Edomex; the inoperative control systems in the institutions, among others documented here. For Many, that absurd effort by AMLO to legitimize Del Mazo, not only has to surprise them, surely also outrages and offends them. More to those Mexicans who Split their arm and have spent years to leave the democratization of the country and the entity. How should these citizens interpreted the new times?, How simple rearrangements? How styles of doing politics? Everything seems to indicate that again the power and the mafia managed to empathize, to such a point of returning to the starting point: impunity.
The funny thing is that these events occur immediately after AMLO himself announced the revival of the investigation around the Master Scam, in which Del Mazo and exrectors of the UAEMex are entagled and after the scandal of their secret accounts in Andorra. The interpretations can be many, but for the ordinary citizen, there are only facts.
About business Alderman of the capital told me that the ex panista mayor does not want anyone but him to shine, and that no one finds out about his agenda, nobody invites to his events, less if it is a matter of federal officials attending; the majority, even those in Morena, do not provide support for their efforts and few know what business the mayor is doing. How he does not want to have more witnesses than necessary, business and moorings that is brought with sectors of the PAN and the PRI.
By the way that business is getting good, the first project approved in one of those late night sessions, to privatize public lightning via one of those private partnership projects (formerly PPSs) was awarded to a firm that in 2015 was described as a “ghost” in a similar case in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua… those panistas will never change, it is as if they did not known how to govern otherwise, a friend told me giggling.
