Academics and students ask Morena to pass UAEM Law

November 3rd, 2019

Members of the Transformation University Network (RUT) asked the Morena Parliamentary Group to expedite the approval of the new law of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM), with measures to strengthen the educational institution, as looting prevails financial and lack of credibility in the authorities.

Francisco Olguín García, an academic from the University recalled that the proposal of the university community was presented a year ago to the local Legislature. So they seek to encourage a final proposal to come out and be sent and can pass shortly to the legislative plenary.

The academic highlighted the availability of the Morenista bench to listen to university students and recognized the Legislature's commitment to take out a new law.

He said that within the UAEM, students, and professors face cuts for university practices because there are no resources to pay for diesel, laboratories remain abandoned, buildings affected by the 2017 earthquake remain unattended, new staff does not count with benefits, workers are retained social security contributions every fortnight, which are not delivered to ISSEMyM, he said.
