Andorra ordered the embargo of 76.5 million euros (equivalent to 83.1 million dollars) to Enrique Peña Nieto's lawyer, Juan Collado, the Spanish newspaper "El País" reported.
According to the newspaper, the lawyer is investigated by the Andorra authorities for the illicit association and money laundering.
Collado had been arrested in July this year, and six days before his arrest, he had transferred 10.5 million euros (11.6 million dollars) from Andorra to a BBVA account in Madrid.
“The fortune of this lawyer in the Principality, deposited in the Private Banking of Andorra (BPA), had been frozen along with the rest of the clients of this entity in March 2015, when the financial institution was closed due to alleged irregularities.
Subsequently, the Andorran judge Caningo Mingorance seized Collado's funds for an alleged crime of money laundering, ”recalls the Spanish newspaper.
Judge Mingorance sent a rogatory commission (petition for judicial assistance) to Mexico requiring all the information about her recent detention and her connection with criminal activities, which did not happen, because in 2018, then the Attorney General's Office provisionally filed the case.
