MIROSLAVA PROJECT: SPECIAL RESEARCH
September 3rd, 2019
82 journalists have been killed in Mexico during the last 10 years.
On March 23, 2017, in the city of Chihuahua, the victim was Miroslava Breach.
She was waiting for his son to leave the house to take him to school. A man in a cap approached her and shot through the window of the truck.
Why did the authorities not protect her when they knew of the danger she was facing through her daring reports that revealed the links between organized and political crime? Why in two years has justice gone slowly and left so many loose ends? Who and why killed Miroslava, the brave La Jornada reporter and sharp columnist for El Norte de Juárez?
Mexican journalists formed El Colectivo 23 Marzo so as not to forget that the crime remains unpunished. They joined forces with the international organizations Bellingcat, Forbidden Stories and the Latin American Center for Journalistic Research (CLIP) to create the Miroslava Project that they researched for more than a year to get answers to these questions.
This September 4 will be launched the series of three reports of #ProyectoMiroslava. "Silence is Impunity," said Miroslava. And we want to break it so that there is justice.
