On instructions from Mayor Fernando Vilchis Contreras, the municipal government suspended work on patching, marking, tree pruning, changing fixtures, closing streets or avenues, drainage repairs that cause slow traffic and activities that require physical effort, among others.
The municipal government is committed to the population of Ecatepec for the well-being of its inhabitants. During this week the levels of contaminating particles in the Valley of Mexico's environment increased, due to the recent fires in Mexico City and surrounding entities.
Given this situation, extraordinary measures were taken, including the aforementioned ones.
Municipal authorities asked citizens to take extreme measures to care for the vulnerable population, such as elderly people, children and sick people. They requested not to burn garbage, plastics, tires, as well as to follow the environmental contingency program for vehicles that do not circulate, under the scheme of gumming and plaque termination, avoiding contamination and sanctions. Also do not perform outdoor physical activities and do not use aerosols, share vehicles and use mouth cap, as well as stay constantly informed through official sources.
In case of a fire, alert the authorities immediately, close doors and windows, move away from the place against the wind, in case of breathing toxic smoke from a fire, go to the doctor to avoid respiratory problems.
The government of Ecatepec hopes that these measures will overcome the environmental contingency and the situation will return to normal.
