In an unusual fact, in Tonanitla's municipality, a tie was registered between the candidates of the PRI, Tomás Negrete Chavarría and the one of the coalition “Por el Estado de México”, Mauro Martínez, with the obtaining of one thousand 369 votes for each one, that is why the "Instituto Electoral del Estado de Mexico", (Electoral Institute of the Entity IEEM), maintains in suspense the delivery of the certificate of majority of votes and does not reject an extraordinary election.

The president of the organization, Pedro Zamudio, confirmed the electoral rarity, and he indicated the possibility that there should be a correction of information, from the resources of objection that promoted the own parties before the courts, which - without being a way to confirms, they might emit some agreement that " would break the settlement of a tie ".

Nevertheless, he also warned that this possibility is not sure, and if the result of a tie is confirmed, there will be a need of extraordinary elections.

" What the calculation had to purely do was: to add the results of the minutes, to obtain the results of the election and, in its case, to declare the election valid and to deliver the witnesses of majority to whom corresponds, in case of Tonanitla especially, we have this peculiarity, the calculation was done, the election is valid, but there is no one to deliver the certificate of majority for a particular circumstance, both charts that occupy the first place, they have exactly the same quantity of votes ", he indicated.

He also reminded that, since the preliminary calculation, Tonanitla presented an accounting very closed among the candidates, with a minor difference of 1 % of the votes.

Zamudio said that, in fact, and due to this circumstance, an " inventory of the voting " was approved, nevertheless the difference was closed and both candidates obtained ultimately exactly the same voting.

The chief of the IEEM said that the parties and coalitions have their right “for safety”, so they can attend to the courts to claim diverse aspects of the process in this demarcation, including a check of the "inventory of votes" that was realized.

It is necessary to emphasize that, in agreement to the results that the PREP threw in case of Tonanitla's municipal election, the PRI was awarding the victory with one thousand 266 votes, against one thousand 206 (60 votes of difference) that obtained the coalition Juntos Haremos Historia, due to the fact of having a minor difference to 1 %, an inventory of votes was commanded, with the already described results.
