In the World Cancer Day commemoration, the Health Commission of the State of Mexico (Instituto de Salud del Estado de México) called people to adopt a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent any type of oncological diseases.

According to the Commission, women are prone to suffer from breast, cervical, ovarian and colon cancer whilst men often suffer from testicular, colon, stomachache and prostate cancer. In children, the most common cases are related to leukemia, bones cancer, cerebral tumors and kidney cancer. In fact, among the main death causes in the State of Mexico, the breast cancer is in the 13th place, followed by anal and colon cancer in the 15th, lung cancer in the 18th position, prostate cancer in 19th and liver cancer in the 20th place.

In this context, the Health Commissions recommend women to practice the breast self-examination at least once a month from age 20 and going to the doctor in case to detect strange changes such as: changes in the shape of the breasts, in the color of the skin, the texture of the nipples, the emergence of lumps, bleeding or abnormal fluids. Also, women must remember to have a Pap test for cervical cancer (Papanicolaou smear).

As for men, they can go to gratuitous medical revisions in the government's high level medicine units in order to detect on time a possible prostate cancer, which symptoms are: difficulties to urinate, unexpected drip of urine difficulties to success an erection and the numbness of legs or feet.

Finally, people must remember that cancer can be healed with the appropriate treatment if it is detected early.
