Impunity in feminicides, the first rally and strike in the new government’s period

The first rally in the government of Alfredo Del Mazo was made to demand justice in the case of two feminicides: Lupita Benitez’ and the one commited against the girl named Fátima Quintana; both of them were ones of the bloodiest that have ever been registered in the recent state history, since both were stabbed to death and exposed to a terrible agony by their offenders.

Relatives, friends and neighbors stood up on the Main Square in front of the palace’s balcony that is occupied since Saturday by the new governor, and they demanded to end up the delay in these cases, since they reported slowness and re-victimization on the authorities side as well as fails through the judiciary process due to the fact that in Fátima Quintana’s case, one of the murderers was set free by a local judge

Carrying huge canvas and ads with messages, friends and neighbors of Lupita arrived from Nicolás Romero to stand up in front of where the palace of government is located to yell and demand, from the bottom of their hearts, to stop impunity.

Lupita’s sister, Isabel Benitez, a young 21 years old mom, stabbed by her partner, assured in an interview that there is no progress neither in this case nor in the other registered feminicides in the State of Mexico, where she said the public attorneys assigned don’t investigate or they block the investigations, they don’t show proofs and don’t receive “key” declarations, apart from delaying the cases as if they were in a kind of negotiation out of them.

Asked about her point of view related to the way the feminicides in the state are managed, Benitez said that prevails an enormous indolence from the authorities in charge and from the government’s officials in general as well as delaying in practically all of the cases.

Something similar denounced Lorena Gutiérrez, Fátima’s mother, a 12 year old girl who was tortured, raped and assassinated by three men, out of those three there was one who was set free by a judge who didn’t consider the proofs given by the family and neighbors, which include photographs of the homicides’ clothes and such pictures, surprisingly weren’t showed by the public attorney assigned to the case despite they were in their hands the whole time.

Fátima was murdered two years and seven months ago already, and as a result of it, her family was displaced due to the acts of re-victimization that has been going through systematically by the state authorities and the murderers’ families.

LOOKING FOR SHELTER IN CANADA

Lorena Gutiérrez informed that herself, her husband and their three kids, asked for shelter to Canada’s government since they have been re-victimized systematically by state institutions and violently forced to look for alternatives to improve their situation.

For Fátima’s family, Mexico and the State of Mexico are no longer an option given the prevailing high rates of violence, insecurity and impunity for the victims of crimes. Lorena informed that till this moment they have not received an answer from Canadian government though meanwhile they have already left the State of Mexico and changed their place of living due to the fear they are facing of being again victims of reprisals from friends and relatives of her daughter’s murderers.

FÁTIMA, THE FEMINICIDE THAT MUSTN’T BE FORGOTTEN

Fátima was only 12 years old when she was going back home from the college and only 100 meters away to get there, she was caught and dragged down to a woody area bordering of her rural village.

That way and just a few meters away from home, three men, who she used to identify perfectly because they were her neighbors, hit her, stabbed her, pinch her and stabbed her heart.

Through the hard fight she gave for her life, Fátima got her wrists and ankles broken, her heart and crutch was stabbed more than 30 times and they took an eye out of its place. She was raped by the three offenders and then her body was abandoned a few meters away.
