UNEMPLOYMENT AND POVERTY: THE NEXT SCOURGE OF MEXICANS

The Coronavirus 19 pandemic and a wrong economic policy, especially public investment by the federal government, are causing 700,000 workers to lose their jobs this year.

According to an evaluation by Banco de México, in the period of March 13 and April 16, 347 thousand formal jobs were lost, a figure that is higher than the jobs created in 2019. During a meeting of the Governing Board of the B de M, feasible proposals were made to promote public policies jointly and in coordination with private companies, in order to promote industrial and service revival, along with employment.

In another order, the importance of promoting projects related to technological innovation to face a new economic order in the global context was highlighted, after emerging problems derived from the pandemic have been overcome.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimates that at the end of confinement, this year alone, nearly three million jobs will be lost, both in the formal and informal sectors, which will generate more poverty in the Mexican population.
